Here to restore Toronto’s faith in funk – it’s The Soul Motivators.
Together for just over two years, these eight funk brothers – and one soul sister -have crafted a slick, hi-energy show guaranteed to get you on the dance floor. Moving crowds at festivals, theatres and clubs across Ontario and Quebec, they received airplay on national and college radio.
After unprecedented hype, their debut EP dropped in March 2013.
To kick-off another summer of rare grooves, 70s funk and authentic soul, the band host a special event at The Garrison (1197 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON) on May 17. Expect a hot n’ gritty night of familiar favourites, rarities and new exclusives – alongside some very special guests:
Opening the night is Babalao Stereo Club. Their fusion of heart-thumping beats and Latin-infused rhythms make them a stand-out band on the Toronto scene. With their 2011 album, ‘The Latin Bang Theory’, these guys proved they can get a party started!
And spinning throughout the evening is legendary Toronto DJ, Paul E. Lopes. His eclectic blend of nu-jazz, soul, funk, house and reggae will provide the perfect backdrop to this hi-octane event.
