The 26th Annual African Canadian Achievement Awards @ the Jane Mallet Theatre, Toronto, ON -- Sat Jun 4th!
The ACAA, is produced annually by Pride News Magazine who recognizes and honours the accomplishments, achievements and excellence of African-Canadians in 14 different categories of endeavours. It is also intended to offer sparkling testimonies of hope and inspiration to our youth, which in turn provides courageous examples of achievement and “overcom...ing” which they can emulate and perpetuate.
The 2011 Award recipients are:
EDUCATION: Dr. Sheldon Taylor
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT: Denham Jolly
LAW: CABL
MEDIA: Dwight Drummond
POLITICS: The Hon Margarett R. Best
RELIGION: Senator Don Meredith
SCIENCE: Kwame Mc Kenzie
SPORTS: Nicholas Ugoalah
MEDICINE: Ms. Penelope Walcott
PARENTING: Brandon Ray
YOUTH: Simone Samuel
FOUNDERS AWARD : Councillor Joe Mihevc
The awards will be hosted by: Ms. Garvia Bailey, Host and producer, Big City, Small World on CBC Radio One 99.1 FM and Mr. Kim Brunhuber, Weekend host, CBC News Now and Saturday host, The National on CBC Television.
The entertainment for the evening will be provided by: Jackie Richardson, Joe Sealy, Toya Alexis, Gary Beals, Quincy Bullen & his band.
