Ballet Creole - RIVER @ Fleck Dance Theatre, Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, ON - Thurs Apr 4th - Sat Apr 6th

The presentation of Ballet Creole’s Spring Season serves as a vehicle for the company’s vision, to create a distinct voice for Canadian dance artists of colour and to share culturally inspired dance art with Canadian communities.

For its 23rd year, Ballet Creole presents RIVER, a conceptual take on the idea that nothing can stop a river flowing. Two aesthetically diverse dance pieces will flow onto the stage: Patrick Parson will complete Trouchka, a work that began in May 2009 as part of a performance of Petrouchka with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Associate choreographer Gabby Kamino will perform the Canadian premiere of Fallen Angels, a three-part allegorical piece which depicts angels that have “fallen,” or rather angels that have chosen to live as humans.

The programme will exemplify the diversity and athleticism of Ballet Creole’s dancers and continues to communicate our motto: “diversity in harmony creates a new energy.
