The prospect of putting on a proper night of underground disco, soul, funk, and proto-house anthems is definitely what’s going to motivate the Bump N’ Hustle crew to take a rare trip across town to link up with the Solid Garage gang, Kwame Younge from What It Is! and a NYC legend to put down a night of period masterpieces perfectly built for the people we know will light the spark…Toronto’s deep, soulful dance floor massive!
We’ve hooked up with the legendary John Morales who is on the verge of releasing his third mix of unreleased exclusive disco mixes for the critically acclaimed UK record label BBE (his epic mix of Universal Robot Bands boogie anthem “Barely Breakin Even” is the source from which BBE Records got its name).
DJ John Morales was born in the Bronx and has been involved in the creation of hit records for the better part of 30 years, playing at historic NYC spots like Stardust Ballroom, Pippins, Bentleys, Limelight and the infamous Studio 54.
M&M (Morales & Munzibai) productions have over 650 mixes to their name, with ground-breaking records for the likes of Class Action, Jocelyn Brown, Shakatak, The Temptations, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones, Spandau Ballet, Aretha Franklin, Shalamar, Hall & Oates, Candi Station, Billy Ocean, The Commodores , The Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, Al Jarreau, Vanity, Art Of Noize, and many others…
Seriously? Yes! And it goes on…John has recently completed a CD compilation for BBE, with new expanded editions of James Brown and the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Ashford & Simpson and many more and has also completed mixing Marvin Gaye's lost "Love Man" sessions, a forthcoming 2-CD 25th Anniversary edition of "In Our Lifetime," Marvin's last album for Motown.
It’s also Bump N’ Hustle host and organizer Carlos’ birthday celebration!
Don’t miss this special night of proper underground disco bizniss!
