In Conversation with... Warsan Shire @ Daniel`s Spectrum, Toronto, ON - Sat Aug 16th!

Manifesto and Artscape in partnership with the Ada Slaight Youth Arts Mentorship Program & IFREECAN are proud to present, “In Conversation With… Warsan Shire” this Saturday, August 17 at Daniels Spectrum. Join us for a conversation with one of the most talented and thought-provoking writers today.

Warsan Shire is a London-based, Kenyan born Somali poet most well known for her bold and beautiful works of poetry. Her first book “Teaching My Mother How To Give Birth” was published in 2011. Shire has also been published in many notable poetry publications such as Magma, Poetry Review and much more. Her work spans a global reach, having been translated into Italian, Portugese, and Spanish. She has also performed everywhere from South Africa to Italy.

Shire will also be in Toronto performing at IFREECAN’s “The Ism” event, (August 17, 2013 at the Revival Lounge) alongside Toronto based artists. “The Ism” is a celebration of artists that stay true to their artistic vision. Shire is also hosting poetry workshop sessions on August 15th and August 16th at Manifesto Community Projects. For more information please visit here .

"In Conversation with… Warsan Shire" takes place at ADA Slaight Hall at Daniels Spectrum (585 Dundas St. East) on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 3pm-5pm.
