About b current:
b current is the hotbed for culturally-rooted theatre development in the Toronto area. Originally founded as a place for black artists to create, nurture, and present their new works, our company has grown to support artists from all diasporas.

We have striven for over 22 years to create space for diverse voices to be heard, always with a focus on engaging the communities from which our stories emerge. As a result, these communities hold our company in trust and respect the work that we do.

We have acquired strong cultural currency with our audiences, whether they are defined by ethnic experience, social values, or political awareness, these groups are loyal to our programming because they recognize the high level of cultural authenticity and integrity we foster in our artists and their works. Our award-winning professional training program – the rAiz'n Ensemble - has graduated scores of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists (Weyni Mengesha, d’bi young (Dora winner), Ngozi Paul (CAB Winner, Gemini Nominee), Joseph Jomo Pierre, (Governor General Award winner), trey Anthony (NAACP winner, dora nominee) and scores of others. Our annual rock.paper.sistahz festival has been the springboard for numerous award-winning new works over the past 12 years.

Note: Childcare will be available for children up to 12yrs old.
