From May to October 2014, the Cultural Hotspot Project shines a spotlight on Hotspot East - south Scarborough, bordered by Lawrence Avenue East south to the lake, Victoria Park Avenue east to Highland Creek Village.
NEXT is a youth-led initiative that will see local youth from inner suburban neighbourhoods organize and lead an entertainment showcase, workshops and lectures highlighting the next generation of emerging young artists. This project is in partnership with Manifesto Community Projects and UNITY Charity.
Manifesto will presents their ongoing “In Conversation with…” series as their programming contribution to the NEXT initiative. These entertaining and informative sessions present unique one-on-one conversations with respected artists and community members. The conversations offer a rare opportunity to go beyond the quotes and performances to facilitate intimate and interactive dialogues with artists, activists, and public figures that offer a perspective that embodies the spirit and values of Manifesto.
We're excited to kick-off the monthly series with an In Conversation with legendary Toronto-based spoken word artist, author, and event presenter Dwayne Morgan, which will be hosted by a shining young star in the flourishing next generation spoken word scene Randell Adjei of R.I.S.E.
