Panamania Live Closing Weekend @ Various Locations, Toronto, ON - Sat Jul 25th & Sun Jul 26th!

Toronto is a buzz with PANAMANIA fever!

Captivating tens of thousands of spectators each day and night throughout the city, PANAMANIA presented by CIBC, is wrapping up the Pan Am Games portion of its 35-day run as the arts and culture festival for the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

From photo exhibitions about the state of the world’s water shortage, to sold-out world premiere theatre and dance performances, there has been a cultural event for everyone. Tens of thousands have gathered each night at Nathan Phillips Square to experience a wide variety of live music and dance from all over North and South America, including Calle 13, The Flaming Lips, Cafe Tacvba, Stars, Wyclef Jean, Los Van Van, The Youth Orchestra of the Americas, and many more. Live music and presentations have been taking place at all three live sites; CIBC Pan Am Park at Exhibition Place, PANAMANIA Live @ The Distillery District, and the festival’s epicentre, PANAMANIA Live @ Nathan Phillips Square.

During the change-over between the Pan Am and Paraan Am Games, PANAMANIA events will take a short break, but the art exhibitions will continue to run. The festival returns on August 7 with an entire week’s worth of new and exciting arts and cultural presentations and events including The Roots, Jann Arden, Tanya Tagaq, Janelle Monae and A Tribe Called Red. There will be new ticketed presentations during the Parapan Am Games including OBEAH OPERA featuring an all-female cast singing a cappella music steeped in Caribbean traditions; and the Lawrence Olivier Award-winning dance show MIX from Brazilian choreographer Deborah Colker which takes the audience on a trip to the dance halls of Rio!

PANAMANIA presents 250 unique performances and exhibitions, including over 40 commissioned presentations. PANAMANIA will bring dance, theatre, music, fashion, and visual arts to Toronto in a way that the city has never seen before, creating a cultural legacy that will make an everlasting impression worldwide.

A detailed list of PANAMANIA’s Pan Am Games closing weekend programmes, featuring Sergio Mendes at NPS, is attached.
