Panel Discussion: THE NEW BLACK: Challenging Musical Tropes @ The Music Gallery, Toronto, ON - Sat Feb 20th!

Alanna Stuart (Bonjay, CBC) moderates a lively discussion with Black artists who create stereotype-challenging music. The discussion will explore ideas about new representations of Black culture. It will not only examine alternative perspectives, but also raise awareness around underrepresented facets of Afro-diasporic cultural expression, specifically within Black Canadian culture. We hope this will be an opportunity to encourage active participation and feedback from participants and the audience alike on how we could move forward in supporting the community. Panelists include Val-Inc, Witch Prophet, Garvia Bailey (JazzFM) and Amanda Parris (CBC).
