Indie Fridays at Yonge-Dundas Square presents

Messenjah
Legendary Canadian reggae group Messenjah was originally formed in 1980, and reconstituted in 2014. As the first Canadian reggae band signed to a major label (Warner Music), the JUNO Award-winning band became a major influence on successive generations. Touring all over North America and the Caribbean, as well as appearing in several movies – including Cocktail, starring Tom Cruise, Messenjah is Canada's most popular reggae group.

Exco Levi
The first Reggae Recording of the Year recipient to receive a JUNO Award four consecutive years running, Exco Levi won his fifth nomination this year for the single “Hello Mama.” Born in Manchester, Jamaica, Levi, an ardent soccer player, came to Toronto in 2005. Influenced by Bob Marley, Sizzla and Peter Tosh, his unique sound pays tribute to the founders of reggae music, with a modern twist.
