Catch a bit of island soul and experience the rich legacy of Caribbean music at the waterfront. A four-day festival celebrating the cultural diversity of Toronto and the island countries, Harbourfront Centre presents their annual Island Soul Festival.
Exploring island traditions and hybrid cultural expression through music, film, dance and more, the festival celebrates the continuance of Caribbean soul from one generation to the next.
Events include a performance by Johnny Osbourne & Sister Nancy, The Arsenals featuring Sonia Collymore and more!
Highlights:
A Harbourfront Centre debut by two of the greatest reggae singers of all time Johnny Osbourne and Sister Nancy take the stage on Saturday night.
A crown prince of Calypso, David Rudder brings his sweet island sounds to the Concert Stage for a grand performance on Sunday night.
Originating from St. Lucia, Caribbean Star has become one of the finest fire shows in Canada. Set to lively soca music, the show begins with the Master of Fire blowing dragon shaped swirls in excess of 8 ft, while dancing and fire baton twirling. This event takes place on Friday night.
KI & The Band, one of the most influential and successful Chutney Soca bands – and three-time international Chutney Soca Monarch Band headline on Friday night. 9p - 10:30p
