The Man We Loved and Called 'Linc' - The Hon. Lincoln M. Alexander Day Celebration @ Sun Jan 21st!
Celebrating the life and legacy of a pioneer, the Honourable Lincoln MacCauley Alexander.
The Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander, PC CC OOnt CD QC (January 21, 1922 – October 19, 2012) was a Canadian lawyer who became the first black Member of Parliament in the House of Commons, the first black federal Cabinet Minister (serving as federal Minister of Labour), the first black Chair of the Worker's Compensation Board, and the 24th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1985 to 1991. He was the first person to serve five terms as Chancellor of the University of Guelph, from 1991 to 2007.

The Honourable Lincoln Alexander celebration is comprised of
- A showcase of the Hon. Lincoln Alexander memorabilia collected over the years which is coordinated by Erika Alexander, Grand Daughter of the late Hon. Lincoln Alexander. (2nd floor Foyer)
- Singing of the Canadian national anthem by Ms. Jasmine Jobity.
- Welcome & Greetings from Councillor Matthew Green & MPP Monique Taylor (Hamilton Mountain)
- A tribute to The Hon. Lincoln Alexander (Dub Poet) by Mr. Klyde Brooks
- A musical tribute to The Hon. Lincoln Alexander by Mr. Joe Rhodes
- The screening of A Linc in Time (Documentary - 48 minutes long)
- Following the screening, there will be a talkback & Q & A led by Nicole Brooks (Film Director) of his journey and the legacy he has built for our Hamilton community with community members who knew the Hon. Lincoln Alexander.
