Cultural Expressions Art Gallery Inc. will present the 12th Annual Durham Black History Month celebration on February 2, 2019 in Ajax, Ontario. Starting from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the event will also include a networking session, information booths, (with community, service, arts, health, and business organisations) and cultural food samplings.
The Annual Durham Black History Month Celebration is presented in partnership with the Congress of Black Women (Ajax/Pickering), Durham District School Board and the Durham Black Educators’ Network. Funding provided by the Government of Ontario.
The House of Commons of Canada unanimously passed a motion on December 5, 1995, and the first national declaration of Black History Month in Canada went into effect in February 1996. Every February since, is now declared Black History Month in Canada.
