A world premiere by a Toronto playwright

Four cousins find each other at the funeral of the family matriarch. Together, they return to Jamaica to discover their past and identities through games, songs, and memories. The fabled sankofa bird, which moves forward while looking backwards, represents the cousins' spiritual journey.

Produced by Obsidian Theatre in association with the Factory Theatre, Who Knew Grannie: a Dub Aria is a world premiere. Jamaican-born author Adhri Zhina Mandiela is a world-renown dub poet, playwright and artistic director. She is the founder of "b current," a not-for-profit performance company based in Toronto.
