Slakah the Beatchild, Ebrahim & Tingsek--A New Sound Emerges

It's not to often that I actually venture out to listen to artists that I'm not too familiar with, but, let me tell you, I was thoroughly surprised and thrilled after leaving the Lula Lounge a few weeks back.

I went specifically to listen to this super-phenenomenal Producer, Singer, known as Slakah the Beatchild who hails from Sarnia, Ontario. You may have heard his name before attached to some of the best-produced songs coming out of Canada such as "Crate Love" featuring Divine Brown and Ray Robinson or even his own feel good song titled "Enjoy Ya Self" which has a version which features Hip Hop Phenom, Drake. However, I was floored when the show opened up with a guy who goes by the name of Ebrahim, that I had never heard before I saw his name on the event's promotional flyer. As he began making some beats using a sampler and some other equipment that I'm not too familiar with, his soulful voice filled the room.

Ebrahim, who was nominated for a Juno in 2008 for his album, Goldrush, is definitely a refreshing voice in the music world. He sings, raps, makes beats using a sampler and keyboard and he beatboxes. To say he's multi-talented is an understatement.

After putting his own spin on a few classic tunes, Ebrahim was joined by Slakah the Beatchild (Byram Joseph) and an artist from Sweden named, Tingsek. It turns out that, the Beatchild and Tingsek (Magnum Tingsek) met on online, Tingsek invited Slakah to Sweden where he wrote several songs for Tingsek's album.

If your were to close your eyes for a minute and listen to Tingsek's soulful voice, you may think that you were hearing Prince's voice or maybe even a hit of Bob Marley. Each artist has their own distinct musical style, but the blend of the three exposes listeners to a unique sound that is lacking in today's music world.

The trio currently have a catchy track called, "War Within" currently getting air play and I'm sure many people, like me, are looking forward to more great music from each of them individually, and together.
