Matahari, the Malay-Indonesian word for the Sun, literally eye of the day. Matahari events will focus on daytime dance parties focusing on good music, fairness and positive people.
The Inspiration : Having gone through years and years of “Clubbing”, Toronto has always been vibrant in the house music scene and other forms of Dance culture. The energy and vibe of the club scene and the after-hours scene have made quite an impression on our memories. Our proximity to Chicago, Detroit and NYC gave us these influences and enabled our home grown DJ's and producers the richness and diversity they are known, or maybe even NOT known for. Our multicultural city infuses the sound of the world into our music. NYC's Shelter and Body and Soul parties also made a statement into the “Clubbing” culture. Brave enough to go against the grain, rejecting commercial music and normal club culture by having parties during the afternoon and evenings, sometimes not selling alcohol and welcoming all.
The People : Matahari Events will embrace all. Black, white, yellow brown, red, blue and green once we find life outside planet earth. Young and old, Straight or gay, cool and nerd. Running shoes or high heels. Minimum wage or 100k plus. Respectful people, leave your stresses at the door and dance with us, groove with us, chill with us. Gotong Royong !
The Music : House is such a loose term, so we'll say we focus on house but you never know what you'll hear, anything danceable really, we'll leave it up to you by way of your response to the DJ's
The Djs : Showcasing Toronto's djs and Toronto's “Sound” with the occasional visiting guest. Each event will have a different mix.
The Venue
London Tap House ROOFTOP PATIO !! 250 Adelaide Street W (Adelaide at Duncan).
• Leave your attitude on the ground floor.
• Large rooftop patio with dancefloor, amazing view of the city, close to queen street shopping.
Rain or Shine ! Party will be moved downstairs in case of Severe Rain
