JAZZ SEMINAR AND CONCERT - AFRICAN JAZZ IN TORONTO
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE - AN ORAL RIFFING
This seminar will invite legendary African-Canadian musicians to speak about the history of Jazz music in Toronto, and Canada to create a retelling of Black stories. What does it mean to be a Black jazz musician in Canada? How do the stories of the musical genre of Jazz inform us politically and socially?
Special Guests Panelists include veteran elders: Archie Alleyne (drummer), Terry Logan (vocalist and pianist) and Eric Mercury (vocalist and producer). Other guest musicians include: Michael Arthurs, and Alexander Brown.
