About Brownman's Tribute to Freddie Hubbard
=========================================
The death of legendary trumpet player FREDDIE HUBBARD rocked the world of jazz. Thousands of trumpeters world-wide have been profoundly affected by the sound of Freddie Hubbard’s horn over the years, his powerful approach and energized style having shaped the evolution of many.
On Wed-Sep-30 internationally acclaimed trumpet player BROWNMAN ALI pays tribute to the Hubbard legacy as part of Monarch’s Wednesday Jazz Series. Recently returning to Toronto after touring with Missy Elliot, the Trinidadian-born multi-award winning jazz trumpeter – will once again take on the sombering task of paying musical tribute to a personal heros and one of the greatest jazz trumpet players in the history of the artform.
Accompanied by an all-star hand-picked ensemble Brownman will bound through 2 sets Freddie Hubbard’s inspired compositions – earlier in the night will feature pieces from Freddie’s acoustic period (“Ready for Freddie”, “Open Sesame”, etc) with the ensemble slowly ramping up through the night to Freddie’s later electric period (“Red Clay”, “Skydive”, etc)
