#Toronto Mayor, John Tory
declared yesterday as #BobMarleyDay in honour of what would have been the legendary #Jamaican #Reggae Artist's 76th Birthday and his tremendous contributions to the world through his music.
And today, the Mayor is observing it as #TheWeekndDay in honour of the Toronto-born R&B star's halftime show performance at #SuperBowlLV.
@TheWeeknd, born Abel Makkonnen Tesfaye, is the first #Canadian to perform solo at a halftime show and the third Canadian to perform live at the event which is being held in Tampa, FL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs playing for the championship.
He reportedly grew up watching the show and now gets to be part of it! What a dream!
I'm looking forward to seeing his 13-minute performance which will begin around 8:00p - 8:30p ET, approximately 90 minutes after kick-off at 6:30p ET on CBS.
According to @TheWeeknd there are no surprise guests expected due to time constraints, but we shall see. He also is not getting paid for this performance, but has put in a whopping $7 million dollars of his own money! Wow!
So, that makes it officially #BobMarleyDayWeeknd in Toronto which I think warrants a holiday tomorrow!😁
Happy #SuperbowlSunday and stay safe!
