Over
the past 19 years, Dwayne Morgan has written 2 chapbooks, 6 full length
books, been translated and published in French, produced an anthology, a
DVD, 5 albums, a compilation album, and the Jean Paul/Marc Trinidad
comedy album.
In
terms of events, he introduced poetry slams to Ontario, founded the
Roots Lounge Open Mic and Poetry Slam, the Toronto International Poetry
Slam, the Black Love series, Members Only, When Brothers Speak, and When
Sisters Speak.
There is so much more that has been done over the past 19 years, and what better way to celebrate than with a show?
Opening acts on Wednesday the 15th will be R&B singers NVS and Chelsea Stewart, as well as Hip Hop artist, Erik Flowchild.
Doors
open at 7 for those with dinner reservations, and 8 for those without.
The first artist takes the stage at 8:30pm. Advance tickets are $20 and
are available via email money transfer to info@upfromtheroots.ca
