FRIDAY MARCH 1st
Julian Fauth
Julian
has toured across Canada several times and has played in Europe,
Russia, Cuba and the US. Andrew Galloway's Electro-Fi label has released
two CDs by Julian, Songs of Vice and Sorrow (2005) and Ramblin' Son
(2008). Both were nominated for a Juno award, and Ramblin' Son won the
Juno for Best Blues Recording in 2009. A third CD, Everybody Ought
To Treat A Stranger Right, will be released on Electro-Fi in the fall of
2012. Julian has alsowon a Maple Blues Award and was nominated for several more.
He
has had the opportunity of playing with some of the best Canadian blues
musicians and a number of American blues veterans. He has also
collaborated with jazz and folk musicians and indie songwriters.
Julian's music is based on the early blues and gospel music he loves but
draws on a variety of other influences as well. In addition to
re-inventing traditional material, Julian writes songs which deal with a
variety of modern topics. While the feeling of the music remains rooted
in pre-war blues, Julian frequently bends the rules and stretches the
boundaries of that musical form.
