The last Samba Party of 2017 celebrates Carnaval in style! Start the night with a traditional bossa nova dinner set with Brazilian Trio. Then take the complimentary samba lesson with Marilyn Deguire. Next powerhouse Batucada Carioca takes over Lula’s stage with songs from the great samba schools of Rio, as well as rhythmic fusions of Brazilian musical styles like frevo, côco, and more!

Brazilian Trio
The night begins with an early bossa nova concert featuring Babi Mendes (vocal), André Valério (7-string acoustic guitar) and Maninho Costa Z IO (percussion). As the granddaughter of the Brazilian composer Dináh Menezes and the journalist Carlos Menezes, Babi Mendes started studying English at the age of 9 and singing at the age of 14. She studied at local conservatories and since the beginning demonstrated a particular interest in jazz, blues, bossa nova and rythim’n'blues.
Marilyn Deguire
This night also includes a complimentary samba lesson with Marilyn Deguire. Marilyn has an extensive background in teaching Samba and Brazilian dance. She incorporates her background studies in Integrative Body Psychotherapy and brings body consciousness, breath and acceptance of self to her students while sharing the essence of samba!
Batucada Carioca
Batucada Carioca invites all friends and fans of carnaval, bateria, and samba in general to a grand send-off party for 2017. It will be a party with plenty of samba and heavy energy!
Batucada Carioca is a Brazilian samba group, led by sambista Maninho Costa, who is a native of Rio de Janeiro. The group is made up of 25-30 percussionists from the local community consisting of Brazilians, Canadians and many other cultural backgrounds.
