Film Screening: Car Wash preceded by Split Ends, I Feel Wonderful
View Car Wash during the Car Wash preceded by Split Ends, I Feel Wonderful event.
Scripted by Joel Schumacher (of all people), this episodic, colourful cult comedy focuses on a day in the life of a multiracial group of friends working at an L.A. car wash. Among a terrific ensemble, which includes comedy legends George Carlin (as a wacky cab driver pursuing a prostitute who stiffed him for a fare) and Richard Pryor (as smooth-talking, money-mad evangelist "Daddy Rich," pastor of the Church of Divine Economic Spirituality), Antonio Fargas is a standout as the cross-dressing Lindy, who memorably declares to disapproving Black Muslim militant Abdullah (future director Bill Duke) "I'm more man than you'll ever be and more woman than you'll ever get!"
Location: TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON
Time: 3:15p
