Pix from the Canadian International Autoshow 2009 - Ends Feb 22!

The Canadian International Autoshow is just days away from wrapping up.

The event, which is the largest car show in Canada, is showcasing vehicles from many of the popular automakers, although with a little less of the usual extravagant displays seen in previous years due to the gloomy current economic situation.

Haitian-born Car Designer, Ralph Gilles, was just one of the executives on hand to talk about their new models. Gilles is currently the VP of Truck and Jeep Design for the Chrysler Group and has been with them since 1992. He is responsible for designing the 2005 Chrysler 300.

Some of the Toronto Argonaut football players took time out to attend media day just days before the show's official opening. It takes place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Roger Center in downtown Toronto and ends this Sunday.

North York Central Library and Youth-Assisting-Youth are celebrating Black History Month by hosting a FREE half-day conference on Sat. Feb. 7, 2009 at North York Central Library.

Youth ages 12 and up can participate in workshops with inspirational guest speakers who will expand their minds. These speakers include Dwayne Morgan from Up from the Roots, Stacey McKenzie from Walk This Way, Anne-Marie Woods aka Amani from Imani Enterprises and a special guest performance by the Black Ice Step Team & Famous.

BUT this is just in!!! An additonal workshop has been added:

Youth now have an exclusive chance to meet Toronto-based writer/producer, Charles Officer, and teen actor, Daniel J. Gordon, of NURSE. FIGHTER. BOY. This is a new release by CFC (Canadian Film Centre) Feature Film Project which opens theatrically in Toronto and Vancouver February 6, 2009. This feature is about love, passion and faith in an urban setting. This award-winning film was shown at several film festivals including the 2008 Atlantic Film Festival and the 2008 Whistler Film Festival. Saturday, November 1st, 2008 marked the end of a Toronto tradition at one of the most exclusive establishments in the city. The annual Croft Mansion Party, hosted by Sharon and Ian Croft, has taken place at the Mansion on Wellington Street west of Spadina Road for several years but will be moving to another venue next year.

Known for being one of the most anticipated events of the fall season, it's classy atmosphere complete with a jazz lounge, baby grand piano and several fireplaces attracts a very upscale clientele. Over the years, proceeds of the event have been donated to the Hospital for Sick Children.

Djs for the night included the Ebony Sound Crew and Channel Nine.

T- Pain Takes Over T.O!

Hip Hip Artist/Singer T-Pain was in Toronto this weekend for several appearances to promote his third studio album, Thr33 Ringz, set to be released on November 11, 2008.

T-Pain, who is signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik label, made a surprise visit at the Tattoo Bar on Queen Street West on Monday night during a 30th birthday celebration for Mona Halem of Lady Luck Entertainment.

Known for catchy tunes such as "I'm In Luv (With a Stripper), "I'm Sprung", "Low", "Bartender" and "Buy You a Drank," 25-year old T-Pain's vocals can be heard on numerous tracks including "Good Life," this year's Grammy-award winning Best Rap Song collaboration with Kanye West. The track also won a BET Award for Best Collaboration and a BET Hip Hop Award for Best Video.

With sales of just over 800,000 on his first album released in 2005, Rappa Ternt Sanga (Rapper Turned Singer) and just over 1,000,000 on his second album, Epiphany, released in 2007, T-Pain has proven that he's no one hit wonder.

At Tattoo, he also proved that his talents go beyond the microphone. He showcased his deejaying skills for about 45 minutes before jumping on to the dancefloor much to the delight of the audience to display some funky hip hop moves. He even took the time out to show a new friend some of his signature moves as his bodyguards watched on.

The all-star celebrity event also attracted several sports players including Toronto Raptors' Chris Bosh and Kris Humphries.
