Update: June 23/09 We are disappointed to announce that the Montell Jordan concert that was scheduled for June 30th at the Capitol Event Theatre has been cancelled. The concert is cancelled because we did not meet the minimum quantity advance ticket sales. Those that have bought their tickets will get full refund by returning back to the place of purchase. Please let us know if you have any challenges in getting your complete refund at any ticket vendor and we will assist. The Toronto African Film & Music Festival (TAFMF) is a premier festival dedicated to celebrating African culture and history. It will showcase the talents of filmmakers and music artists from across Africa.

This past Mother's Day weekend wasn't just a celebration for all Mothers, it was also a celebration of comedy. Back for the 3rd year in a row, the Trinidad vs Jamaica Comedy Clash was hosted in a new facility, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at Toronto's Exhibition Grounds. Founded by Comedians & Team Leaders, Jean Paul and Jay Martin, the event featured a battle of Comedians and DJs duelling it out to see which country would come out on top.
Representing Jamaica were Comedians Lemon, Ity & Fancy Cat led by Martin, while Paul, Marc Trinidad and Errol Fabian made up Team Trinidad. DJs E-Man and Lindo P who has been touring with Akon and Kardinal Offishall, provided the entertainment.
Legendary Jamaican Comedian Blakka Ellis made a special guest appearance for what he says is his last Canadian appearance. He is retiring to pursue other interests after more than 25 years of comedic relief.
Overall, both countries represented well, and everyone was more than entertained-- especially, my friend Kathyann who definitely captured Fancy Cat's attention.

Yesterday marked the 25th year anniversary of Motown superstar Marvin Gaye's death. The R&B artist whose music influenced many other artists, was killed by his father, Marvin Gaye Sr, back on April Fool's Day 1984 during an argument just a day shy of his 45th birthday. Best known for hits such as "Sexual Healing," "Heard it Through the Grapevine" and "What's Going On," Gaye was also a songwriter, composer, musician and record producer. Last year, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him as #6 on their list of Greatest Singers of all time. A candlelight tribute ceremony was held at sunset yesterday afternoon at his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California. Today would have been his 70th birthday.
