Chronicles Dub Trio @ the Painted Lady, Toronto, ON - Thurs Oct 12th!

Join us for a night of instrumental Roots and Dub Reggae once again as we perform at the Painted Lady for the release of our latest album,' Chapter II: Marcus Garvey."

The self produced EP features interpretations of six vintage riddims by the likes of Cornel Campbell, Burning Spear, Jackie Mittoo and others. The music is rich in heavy drum and bass, space echoes/reverbs and dueling keys and guitars. The aim of this release was to pay tribute to the pioneers of the great roots and rockers era of the 70's while infusing it with the trio's unique jazz-dub stylings.

This album was recorded live and straight to tape with out any overdubs,a representation of what you will see on stage. This approach was fundamental to capture the true essence of spontaniety and the trio's captivating ability to coax more sounds than is imaginable by three players.

Chapter II: Marcus Garvey is a powerful statement on the evolution of dub reggae and what is yet to come from this innovative and original sound.

The Lion's Den @ Sankofa, Toronto, ON - Mon May 18th!

Been doing the Den, then stopped when the vibes changed and for a time and felt like I missed that energy with some of my fellow Denites. I still get asked once or twice a week or just random, “when are you going to do another Denday?” Victoria Day is the next Denday celebration.

The legendary selecta African Star has his own spot on the Eglinton strip called Sankofa, (1655 Eglinton Avenue West) and I thought that we’d take the opportunity to connect birds to the stones. A one-of Lion’s Den! See how it goes and we do another if needs be.

For this Denday we going back old school to the original Den selectas in The Juiceman Jonathan Shaw a veteran DJ in the city worked at the first two urban stations in Flow 93.5FM as well as G98.7FM. DJed at thousand parties, balls, shows, dances, clubs and events too numerous to mention and was the first DJ I asked to come play in the Den... Months later Shai of Xixgon joined and I met the twins with him. Nuff vibes on many nights. Fortunately we are in the ‘home’ of African Star so we will have the honor of listening to him spin some of his gems and our lady in the crew is Lauren Speers aka DJ Chocolate.

Together, DJs and fans alike create the Den vibes. Come feel the Den if you have only heard about it...
