Just one day after Christmas, the music industry is in shock as information is pouring in about the sudden and untimely death of legendary R&B singer, Teena Marie, earlier today. However, details regarding what actually caused her death are still unknown.

Reports are surfacing that Marie, who was just 54, suffered from a grand mal seizure last month which is known to cause loss of consciousness and painful muscle contractions. She apparently passed away in her sleep at her Pasadena, California home where she was found by her daughter, Alia Rose.

Marie, who was born Mary Christine Brockert, was most notably known for her hits such as, "Square Biz", "Lovergirl" and "Fire and Desire" a duet she sang with the late Rick James, who she worked with and a had a romantic relationship for many years. The multi-talented Singer, Producer, Songwriter, and Arranger, also played piano and electric guitar. She was a four-time Grammy nominee, and spent three years with Motown in the early 1980's before leaving the label due to contract because of contract issues. She had released her 13th studio album, Congo Square, in 2009.

Teena Marie had been scheduled to perform with soul legend, Frankie Beverly and Maze, for New Years Eve in Miami, Florida and New Years Day in Atlanta, Georgia.

Her distinctly sultry voice will truly be missed.
