The Mountain Edge Roots N Culture Band, six-time winners of the Canadian Reggae Music Awards from 200y-12, has had the privilege of working with acts such as: Marcia Griffiths, John Holt, Freddy McGregor, The Mighty Diamonds, Queen Ifrica, Rita Marley, Dobby Dobson and many more greats.

Dance Caribe @ the Redpath Stage:

This suite is a mixture of African and Afro-Caribbean dances, performed in traditional and contemporary styles. The dance symbolizes the journey from Africa to the Caribbean; a spiritual awakening of many moods and expressions, the life and soul of its people. Capturing the spirit of the people, the dance is a mélange of styles bringing out the energetic and colorful blend of the Afro-Caribbean.

Marcia Griffiths @ West Jet Stage

In a genre traditionally dominated by male artists, Marcia Griffiths is arguably the best-known and most influential woman in the history of reggae. Griffiths first made a name for herself when the music was still evolving from its roots in ska and rocksteady, and she later became an ally of reggae's signature artist, Bob Marley, before embracing the electronic-based sounds of dancehall and funk in the 1980s.

Friendly jesting and rivalry between Toronto and Montreal's most venerated Jamaican "sounds" has existed for years. We celebrate this at the the Late Night Tribute to Jamaica's Sound in the Brigantine Room.
