Soulful, sultry, subtle, powerful - these are words that best describe the vocal style that Simone brings to her performances with The Simone Morris Trio. Her innate musicality and passion for music were evident at an early age, developed through decades as a pianist, and now form the basis of intimate & evocative style and delivery. At Toronto's York University she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music with a focus in contemporary piano improvisation. As a member of, and soloist in, the York University Jazz Choir ("Wibijazz'n'”), Simone changed her focus and honed her chops, beginning her lifelong journey as a vocalist. Drawing on many vocal influences across genres - from Anita O'Day, Sarah Vaughan and Nina Simone to Joni Mitchell, Diana Krall, Etta James and Ray Charles - Simone is known for her stirring and soulful performances.
