Black and Funny @ The Bad Dog Comedy Theatre, Toronto, ON - Fri Feb 2nd!



We're gonna kick off Black History month with a celebration of Black comedy at Toronto’s inaugural Black and Funny Comedy Night.

8pm: THE MIX-UP features stand-up, improv & sketch from Brandon Ash Mohammed, Guled Abdi, a special from Holodeck Follies (Jamillah Ross & Dale Wells), and Definition of Knowledge. Hosted by Nigel Downer.

9pm: THE QUEENS features a mix of character comedy, stand-up, and improv from women/female-identifying: Hoodo Hersi, Akosua Amo-Adem, Sarah St-Fleur, Amana Live, and Coko & Daphney. Hosted by Coko Galore.

10pm: STORIES & IMPROV features a classic improv Armando format performed by an all-star ensemble cast including Guled Abdi, Tim Blair, Andrew Bushell, Nigel Downer, Coko Galore, & Daphney Joseph with special storyteller, writer & director Sasha Leigh Henry.

Black and Funny was originally conceived by John Gebretatose & Alsa Bruno at Minneapolis’ HUGE Theater, their annual Black and Funny Improv Festival sets out to create an awareness within the Black community in the Twin Cities that improv is an art form that they can do and benefit from.
