THE PASSING OF A LEGEND, G98.7FM FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT FITZROY GORDON
TORONTO- May 2, 2019 - Fitzroy Gordon founded Canada’s only Black and Caribbean owned and operated radio station G98.7FM, which was licensed on June 9, 2011 and officially launched in November of the same year. Mr. Gordon dedicated this radio station to provide a voice for the Black and Caribbean population of Canada and to all Canadians who love and enjoy our culture.
“It’s hard to put in words the loss we are experiencing at this time, within the G98.7FM family. Our Founder and President cultivated and nurtured an environment of uniqueness, perseverance, care, love and respect. He was a leader that not just directed, from the CEO’s office, but sat beside us in our offices. He met us at our point of need with mentoring, teaching, compassion, understanding and patience, qualities seldom found in a boss. He took the time to ensure that the Executive and all staff of G98.7FM understands the true meaning of the purpose for this station. It always meant more, that you embraced the vision of the station than even embracing him. He fought daily to acquire full support and recognition for the importance and the purpose of this platform. Again, I cannot find words to explain the depth of his affectionate heart, but simply I can say he valued humanity and the Black and Caribbean population. He gave everything to see us empowered, that is profound love. ‘The theme is Love and the emphasis is on Team’ are his words.” So together the G98.7FM family is dedicated, committed and focused on ensuring his legacy, the gift he gave to us lives on for the sake of our children and our children’s children, generations to come.” said Alicia Wright-DaCosta, G98.7FM Chief Operating Officer.

On April 30 2019, a Godly legend, a visionary, a humanitarian, a family man was promoted to a home of everlasting peace.
We will honour him with a home-going service on Friday May 10, 2019 at 10 am at Global Kingdom Ministries, 1250 Markham Rd, Scarborough, ON
