Cayle is truly a miracle child. Tragedy struck 3 weeks before his second birthday – he suffered from global brain damage while he was being treated in preparation for bone marrow transplant (BMT) for a rare immune disease called HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis). The doctors said Cayle would only live to the age of 3 1/2 years. He defied the odds,is now 17 years old, still going strong but needs help to improve his quality of life.

The concept for groovEssentials was born one fine morning in February during Trinidad carnival, years back. As the sun rose at the all inclusive breakfast fete that I was attending, the reality hit me that pointing a finger and chippin’ to the sounds of groovy soca “out on the road with my friends” was a fresh alternative to jumping and wining all the time. Half a year later, after watching Soca Sweetness flatten a dance with groovy tunes, the concept was rekindled in my mind...

Re-introducing groovEssentials - an evening of all things groovy - old and new alike. From Shurwayne Winchester's "Don't Stop" to Zan's "Out on the Road" to Machel's "Make Love" and "Oil and Music" to Farmer Nappy's "Chippin" and Onika's "All is Yours", if it’s groovy, it has a home here. Add a touch of lovers rock reggae courtesy of special guest Lindo P, and the MC of our generation, Eman, and this is a fete for the ages. Not the all ages.

After 4 longs years hiatus, and an incredible inaugural return edition in November, GroovEssentials is back to fill the void for the adult soca market is …
