Honey Jam Canada Concert @ The Mod Club Theatre, Toronto, ON - Thurs Aug 15th!

The Honey Jam Canada Concert, celebrates its 18th anniversary at the Mod Club Theatre in Toronto (722 College Street) on Thursday, August 15, 2013.  Hosted by MuchMusic's Lauren Toyota, the 2013 edition promises to deliver a night of exciting live entertainment with a diverse group of artists who were introduced at the recent launch.

The lineup includes 20 artists from Nova Scotia, Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and London representing pop, hip hop, r&b, soul, blues, rock and more.  Go to www.honeyjam.com and click on “2013 Artists” to see more info on the artists performing this year.

Only $20 in advance, $25 at the door.  Proceeds support YWCA Toronto’s programmes for women & girls.

Background
Honey Jam is an all female artist showcase and developmental initiative produced by non-profit organization PhemPhat Entertainment Group since 1995.  Along with producing the concert, they also provide opportunities to the artists including workshops on Songwriting, Media Training, and Vocal/Performance, one-on-one vocal training with celebrity coach Elaine Overholt, having a track featured on the Honey Jam compilation CD and a one hour A&R consultation session from Universal Music.

Additionally, one lucky artist will receive:
The Honey Jam Hookup Prize Pak including $3000 in equipment from Yamaha Canada, free entertainment lawyer consultation from Taylor, Klein Oballa, and a package from Think Fitness Studios
The opportunity to perform at Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Artist Stage
The opportunity to perform in Barbados, courtesy of the Barbados Tourism Authority.
Honey Jam also promotes and raises funds for women’s charities, with Proceeds from this year’s show to support YWCA Toronto's programs for women and girls.

We’ve got an awesome lineup of artists this year from Calgary, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Brampton, London and Burlington, representing varying cultures and music genres. Click here to see the artist photos and bios.

All of the artists this year will:

  • attend a free music industry workshop at Harris Institute with panels on Publishing, Entertainment Law, Songwriting, Media Training and Vocal/Performance
  • receive one-on-one vocal and performance coaching from celebrity coach Elaine Overholt of Big Voice Studios
  • have a track featured on our promotional compilation CD
  • have their original songs played on Radio
  • receive 1 hour A&R consultation time from Universal Music

Honey Jam Canada Auditions @ The Mod Club, Toronto, ON - Sun Jun 3rd!

Do you have what it takes? We’re searching the country for female artists, ages 14-25, representing pop, hip hop, jazz, soca, r&b, gospel, rock, dancehall, blues, alternative, opera, country – all styles of music!
Admission is $10.00 for everyone – spectators and artists.

We STRONGLY suggest you arrive by 1:00pm to register as there are a limited number of audition spots.
 
What to bring
. a 1 page bio with photo which should include your age, address, email, whether or not you have a manager and, if so, his/her contact info, how long you have been performing, places you have performed in the past, and any upcoming gigs, websites, etc.
. background music on CD. The track you are using should be the only thing on the CD, which should also be cued and labelled with your name.

**You can also perform with minimal accompaniment, i.e. guitar and/or keyboard, but not a full band. You can have a band at the showcase if you are chosen.

You can do an original song or a cover, but this is not Karaoke so if you do a cover you should bring your own style to it.

Please note, we will not be auditioning dancers or spoken word artists.

In terms of the audition procedure, you do not need to make an appointment. You will be given a number when you arrive and will audition when that number is called. Each auditionee only has approximately 1 minute to perform.
 
Please audition with the same material you would do at the showcase if chosen.
 
The final showcase takes place Thursday August 16 in Toronto, so please make sure you are available on that day before you audition.

Honey Jam Then & Now Reunion Concert @ The Brigantine Room, Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, ON - Fri Feb 3rd!


HONEY JAM THEN & NOW REUNION CONCERT
FRIDAY, FEB 3 - BRIGANTINE ROOM, HARBOURFRONT CENTRE

Honey Jam: Then & Now is a reunion concert and photo exhibit showcasing iconic images from the past 16 years of Honey Jam, the longest-running talent showcase in Canada. Honey Jam is a multicultural developmental initiative providing networking, educational and performance opportunities for female artists in all musical genres.

Hosted by Michie Mee, Honey Jam: Then & Now will feature Honey Jam alumni paying tribute through song to inspiring iconic black female artists, paying homage to black music and its influence across all cultures around the world. An accompanying slide show will feature photos, press clippings, flyers, ticket stubs and other memorabilia as well as some video highlights from 1995 to present. Featured artists include Jully Black, Jemeni, Belinda Brady, Kellylee Evans, Kim Davis, True, Motion, Eternia, Natasha Waterman, Saidah Baba Talibah, Courtney Taylor and more!
