Robert Owens, one of the most influential icons of House Music, made a brief stop at Toronto's Revival venue on October 4, to perform at the Solid Garage Live showcase put on by United Soul.

If Owens' name doesn't ring a bell, you may remember his huge early nineties hits "Tears" and "I'll Be Your Friend," a worldwide number one charttopper.

His latest album, Night Time Stories, was released earlier this year. It's his first release in 10 years, complete with 11 tracks.

The King Sunshine Band entertained audiences in the upper level of Revival while Owens showed off his DJ skills in the lower lounge before his mainstage performance. Albert Assoon, one of the pioneers of the Toronto's dance music scene, also spun some rare groove, electro and house tracks from from the legendary Twilight Zone days, the now-defunct club which he helped to establish.

Robert Owens is currently on tour in Europe and maintains residency in England, where he is an accomplished DJ at various clubs.

Partial proceeds of the event went to support the Children's Aid Foundation.

You can visit Robert's Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/robertjowens for more info and music.
