The 8th Annual Culture Shock Community Arts Festival @ Weston-Mount-Dennis area, Toronto, ON - Thurs Aug 9th - Sat Aug 11th!

UrbanArts Community Arts Council is proud to present the 8th annual CultureShock Community Arts Festival, a series of events to highlight the Weston-Mount Dennis neighbourhood and Toronto.  With a schedule of youth arts programming that focuses on dance, visual arts, and unforgettable music performances, UrbanArts is excited to prove that Toronto is a hotbed of talent.
 
CultureShock Festival All festival events are free and family-friendly. The highlight of the summer begins with the UrbanArts Art Show on Thursday August 9th from 5-7 pm, followed by the film screening of “Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest” on Friday August 10th from 5-7 pm.  The flagship event and showcase take place on Saturday August 11th from 3-9pm with the 8th Annual CultureShock Community Arts Festival, at Weston Farmers Market (14 John Street). 
 
Hosted by one of Toronto’s hottest comedians, Trixx, and Hip Hop pioneer Michie Mee, the showcase is headlined by two of the most dynamic and talented women from Toronto. With singles like “Bump”, and “Mannequin”, Toronto’s Trish, flawlessly combines edgy fashion with music.  Shi Wisdom has been building a buzz in the city, and her signature brand of soul has taken the city and radio airwaves, by storm. Other artists include Church Chizzle, Obidiah, Erik Flowchild, and spoken word performers Yusra, Enuma and Rolling Stone will also be taking the stage.
 
The CultureShock Festival will feature an array of local musical talent, an art exhibit, youth art activities, vendor booths, and of course great food. The festival aims to profile the artistic community and to reflect UrbanArts’ ongoing commitment of engaging youth and community development through the arts.

UrbanArts is a non-profit Community Arts Council focused on enhancing neighbourhoods by engaging youth in community development through the arts. UrbanArts initiates arts activities that bring people together in central-west Toronto and citywide.
