Marley Berot - Art Show and Sale Grand Opening Reception @ Starving Artist Restaurant, Toronto, ON - Sun Apr 7th!

FIRST SHOW FOR YOUNG ARTIST – MARLEY BEROT IS PUTTING FACES ON THE WALL OF THE STARVING ARTIST RESTAURANT AND GALLERY.
By Stephen Weir

IT is not every day that an 18-year gets her own art show in Toronto. There is a dearth of gallery space in the city and usually, the wall space is reserved for a well-established artist.  But, in the case of Marley Berot there are not many people paint like this Burlington native.

The Trini Canadian is opening her first show at the Starving Artist Restaurant and Gallery at 467 Danforth Avenue on April 7th.  Her acrylic paintings will stay on the walls until May 18th with the kick-off reception-taking place on the 7th starting at 3 pm.  The Starving Artist is open seven days a week from 9 am - 6 pm

“There is so much talk and strife about skin colour and ethnicity these days,” Marley Berot told the Caribbean Camera. “I don’t see the soul that way.  My portraits show the inner self. It is not just a white, black and brown world – the faces I paint can be green, or blue or any colour you want!

Location:  The Starving Artist Restaurant and Gallery, 467 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, ON

Time: 3p

Plantation Rum Tasting & Art Show with Artist Levi Collins @ The Real Jerk, Toronto, ON - Tues Jun 30th!

Are you a Real Jerk Rum Connoisseur?

Are you an Art Connoisseur?

Join us on Tuesday June 30 at 6:30 pm for Plantation Rum Tasting and Enjoy the Caribbean spirit of Rum

Plantation 20th anniversary
A blend of the company's oldest reserves, this rum is something else. Selected rums aged for long years in the Caribbean are painstakingly blended by our cellar master at Château de Bonbonnet then matured in small French oak casks for a further 12 to 18 months. Double aging gives the rum an incomparably round and creamy palate.

The colour of old mahogany, Plantation XO 20th Anniversary reveals a nose with exotic notes of sugarcane, oaky vanilla and toasted coconut, enhanced by more complex aromas of cocoa, candied orange and cigar box.

To be enjoyed slowly, with or without a cigar. This rum needs a cigar with lots of flavor, but also some balance. The Flor de las Antillas Toro (Nicaragua) makes a lovely pairing, with its coffee bean notes, hearty wood and backing sweetness

Plantation Grande Réserve 5 years - Alc.40%
A very fine blend of Barbados rums, aged for five years in bourbon casks in the Caribbean then refined in old French oak casks at Château de Bonbonnet. Its succulent nose, typical of the Barbados style, reveals notes of toasted coconut, fudge and oaky vanilla. Plantation Grande Réserve 5 Year Old can be enjoyed straight, on ice or in cocktails.

Plantation Guatemala Gran Anejo
Color: A golden yellow with glints of amber
Nose: Starts with vanilla aromas that turn woody with some coconut, and finishes with a hint of licorice Mouth: Smooth, round, woody vanilla notes, blossoming into a light and elegant finish.

Plantation and Pusser Rum Tasting with Art Show @ The Real Jerk, Toronto, ON - Tues Jul 29th!

Are you a Real Jerk Rum Connoisseur? Are you an Art Connoisseur?

The Real Jerk cordially invites you to our Plantation Rum and Pussers Rum Tasting with Art show on Tuesday July 29th at 6:30pm

Plantation Rum is one of the worlds most revered rums. Plantation Rums are collected from different Caribbean islands where they aged in bourbon barrels before being transported to Cognac Ferrand in France for a finish in Cognac casks! Each rum from the Plantation Rum collection has a unique style and personality that are flavourful and refined. This rum has won numerous awards, perfect with fine cigar.

Pusser's Blue Label is a classic British Navy style rum, inspired by the recipe used to produce the tot given to sailors as their daily ration until Black Tot Day. Rum and the sea are inseparable, and no rum is more akin to the sea and the sailor than Pusser's Rum–the Original Navy Rum.

Artist Christine Shaheen
Christine Shaheen, has always been fascinated by the fragility of the human condition, the volatility of nature and the infinite possibilities between the two. Through her work with an eclectic assortment of angles, layers and colour, Christine explores and juxtaposes the relationship between man and nature and brings a unique point of view to the art world in a multitude of mediums. Inspired by the opposing forces within herself and the world, Christine's sense of drama and unexpected beauty, never fail to surprise and provoke.

Kinetic Brands will be at the Real Jerk offering samples of Plantation Rums and Pusser’s Rum.

Join us on Tuesday July 29 at 6:30pm, and enjoy the Caribbean spirit of Rum and Art - PLEASE RSVP
