Carassauga Opening Night Launch & Festival of Cultures @ Hershey Centre, Mississauga, ON - Fri May 24th - Sun May 26th!

Carassauga is an incorporated non-profit volunteer community organization, which celebrates its 27th anniversary this year. It operated for the first time in 1986 with 10 Pavilions, initially operating only on Saturday and Sunday.  It was created in response to a challenge put out by  Mayor Hazel McCallion to all ethno cultural groups at a meeting of her calling in the old City Hall in the fall of 1985.  It quickly evolved into a 3-day, 22 hour event.

The Festival has become an important annual event in Mississauga’s calendar, and its popularity has steadily increased in recent years.  It  is the largest multicultural Festival in Ontario and is now recognized as the 2nd largest cultural Festival in Canada in terms of visits & ethnic diversity representation.

The Opening Night Ceremony May 24, 7:30 pm is held at the Outdoor Stage at the Hershey Centre and is a kaleidoscope of color and cultures. This launches the three-day Festival and is celebration of all the countries represented at the Festival, clearly depicting the cultural diversity of the City.

Non-stop cultural entertainment throughout the Festival weekend is featured on the Outdoor Stage, which is a main attraction point for visitors.

In addition to the welcome formalities by the Chair of the Festival and dignitaries and the Opening Night Ceremony, Carassauga Festival is pleased to present Simply the Best.
