Archie Alleyne Celebration of Life @ Daniels Spectrum, Toronto, ON - Tues Jun 23rd!

Some of Canada’s finest talents including Gemini and Dora-Award-winning Jackie Richardson, rock and soul vocalist, Saidah Baba Talibah, Juno-Award-winning jazz pianist and composer Joe Sealy, and many more, especially including his family, pay tribute to the late jazz pioneer Archie Alleyne, C.M. who died last week at the age of 82 from prostate cancer.

This public tribute is a free event hosted by the Alleyne family to celebrate Archie's fearless spirit, love for life, family and music. Backed by Alleyne’s nine-piece Evolution of Jazz Ensemble and Kollage, the contemporary hard bop sextet he co-founded with the late Doug Richardson, there will also be a rare opportunity to see photos and biographies archived by Alleyne chronicling his 60 plus year career in music, business and philanthropy.

What Are People Saying:

“There’s something refreshingly out of fashion about Toronto soul-rock diva Saidah Baba Talibah. Talibah is the daughter of jazz and blues legend Salome Bey and has the pipes to match her lineage.” – Now Magazine (4 out 5 ****)

“What sets Talibah apart from some other artists is her ability to perform with raw emotion and be in the moment.” – AMÖI Magazine

"Her titillating and scandalous lyrics, accompanied by her sensuality, make (S)Cream a must see for viewers." – Soultracks

• “stalwart soul-rock firebrand” – Exclaim! Magazine
