Toronto's three time Stylus Award winner Kid Kut in collaboration with IV Play Entertainment and Darling Nicky return to present an evening of music to benefit MusiCounts Canada --

On Thursday, December 8th, 2011 at the Hard Rock Café (259 Yonge Street at Dundas, Toronto, ON) Kid Kut and fellow music lovers Natalie "IV Play" Powell and Darling Nicky invite you to share in "The Gift of Music", an event featuring live performances by a star-studded roster of artists that have made an impact on the Canadian music industry, and share his love of music. This A-list event, hosted this year by Canadian Hip-Hop legend Michie "Badgal" Mee, shall feature live performances by Andreena Mill, Divine Brown, Slakah the Beatchild, August Rigo, A-GAME, Rich Kidd, Ms Paige, Shi Wisdom, Omar Lunan, Shaun Boothe, contemporary violinist Yosvani with appearances from several surprise guests. An after party will follow with music by three of Toronto's top rated DJs: Canada's Most Versatile - Jester, 2011 Stylus Rated NEXT DJ of the Year DJ Rych Kydd and DJ Ononymous of 105.5 CHRY.

On September 30, the 2011/2012 Band-Aid grants were revealed with $600,000 will being awarded through 69 grants, in both $5,000 and $10,000 increments, impacting 85 schools across Canada. The North American tour of MEMPHIS will make its one and only Canadian stop in Toronto, presented by Dancap Productions, one of the Tony Award-winning producers.

Turn Up That Dial . . . Inspired by actual events and the life of Memphis DJ Dewey Phillips, MEMPHIS tells the story of a young white radio DJ who wants to change the world, and a beautiful young black a club singer who is ready for her big break. From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, comes a hot new Broadway musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, roof-raising music, and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love.

The Birth of Rock n Roll . . . It was the new sound of a young generation hungry for change. A change that defied the rigid structures and conservative standards of Tin Pan Alley, and synthesized a variety of musical genres into one eclectic sound: Rock 'n' Roll.

In the early 1950s, this new sound was considered to be "race music" as its origins were strongly influenced by the black musical roots of rhythm and blues, soul and gospel. In this era of segregation, even the radio was a venue of divide. Centre of the dial radio stations, which were easily accessible, were designated for traditional music and standards being produced by Broadway composers; while left of the dial, commonly distorted, radio stations were allotted for black music. This was until a disc jockey by the name of Alan Freed began to play the new "Rock 'n' Roll" sound - a term coined by Freed - as featured music on his middle of the dial radio station.

MEMPHIS features a Tony®-winning book by Joe DiPietro and a Tony®-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi's founding member David Bryan. MEMPHIS is directed by Tony® nominee Christopher Ashley and choreographed by Canadian Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys).

The Aroni Awards Gala was created in honor of Aron Y. Haile as he was exemplary in creating opportunities for people in diverse backgrounds. Aron Y. Haile, an African Canadian who died in 2003, at the young age of 30, was an accomplished student, entrepreneur, software developer, event planner, theater arts enthusiast and adventurer. His willingness to mentor gave him an avenue to forge many meaningful relations while giving back to his community. Aron believed that you should help those with good character who are applying positive effort to further advance themselves forward despite the obstacles. In December, 2003 while on holidays from his role as a software developer at BMO, his short yet fulfilled life ended in a vehicular accident in Eritrea (East Africa.).
